The Role
I really enjoyed my placement, I loved being part of a team and doing tasks that are making a big difference. I have met a lot of great people and developed so many of my skills. My confidence has improved significantly, along with my team working abilities and professional communication.
Completely valued, I was trusted and given responsibility, and was an integral part of the team due to tight deadlines. I contributed significantly to thier major projects which was an excellent opportunity.
Very much so. I was completely supported, where I knew exactly who to go to. However, I wasn't smothered, and had to take my own initiative on occasions which was brilliant as I learnt so much
Fairly busy. There were some occasions where I felt bored because I was limited in my technical knowledge in order to help. However, some days was incredibly fast paced, which was brilliant because I love a pressurised environment and feeling important in the project. Most days were generally balanced, with lulls and highs
A fair amount. I was trusted with deployments of projects and important documentation to instruct on building processes.
I have developed team working skills, communication, technical knowledge and business knowledge, that will no doubt help me in many years to come
The Company
Fairly good, the team were fun but due to the amount of work that needed to be done whilst I was there, there were a lot of moments of serious work to be done!
It wasn't too bad but the timings were slow. All people not based in Windsor/Staines were less informed than the others, and access to certain areas was badly communicated
Very much, We had a development day to build upon skills, and could take opportunities to visit a variety of offices to learn about the business
Subsidised Canteen
Very appealing, great learning opportunities!
The Culture
A little bit. It depends on location, the Staines/Windsor students interacted but those of us who were in different areas didn't so much. There were 6 of us where we were, but we weren't housed together. We got along well but didn't so many social things
It was ok. Single bus tickets were 2.50 to work (whereas a taxi for 4 was £2 each so we usually did that). We were in Leicester, so not too expensive really
There is a lot of variety! Though the places we went to weren't that great
Not too many in my building, though other Leicester buildings have many more activities because they are bigger
