The Role
I was made to feel extremely welcome and valued.
I never felt like a placement student, I was always treated like any other employee and got involved in team meetings, meals, etc.
Excellent support and guidance by my manager, who was as committed to my personal development as I was. I was pushed to challenge myself, and this allowed me to get the most out of my placement.
The great thing about my role was that as well as having my set day-to-day tasks to complete I was given the opportunity to take part in as many other projects as I could handle.
I was given as much responsibility as could be expected of someone who wasn't qualified.
During my placement all the skills that I have gained during previous work experience rolls along with a great many more have been advanced far further than I could have foreseen.
The Company
Very friendly which helped me get settled in straight away. Everyone at the company works hard but also understands that it is a team effort.
Extremely organised. I spent time within a range of teams in the department, which I felt gave me the best overall understanding of the department and the types of work I could potentially get involved in, if accepted onto the graduate training program.
Regular presentations, training from out supervisors and even a half day negotiation workshop meant that the level of investment was high.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Everyone wanted the training contract offer after the scheme.
The Culture
The industrial placements, graduates and business apprentices all encouraged to socialise and support each other.
Fairly expensive place to go out.
A nice place to go out, there are plenty of bars and clubs and if your feeling adventurous it is easy to get into London.
If there is not already something being organised by some one you can organise something yourself. There are always company wide emails being sent round asking who is interested in doing some sort of activity.
