    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • One of the best years of my life! Whilst at times it was very challenging there were so many experiences, both good and bad that I can learn from in the future.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Such a supportive environment. In some part this was due to the emphasis that is put on the intern and grad programmes and the fact a lot of the team had also followed this path so knew he position you were in. It was encouraging to see them trust you with the responsibility which in turn made you feel more valued and part of the team.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Everyone was always super busy so there was not as much direction and guidance as I had hoped, however, I could have acted on this by asking for more guidance and feedback when I was struggling. When things didn't go so well, I did receive the support and direction needed. In such a fast paced business, you were expected to get on with your own tasks, be attentive and use your initiative which coming from the some what 'spoon-fed- nature of school and university took time to adjust to.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Whilst initially slow to start, things picked up and I often found myself with too much on my plate as I was dealing with requests from multiple teams both internally and externally. I should have communicated this with my manager rather than struggle to complete everything myself. It was stressful and hard to deal with at times but it also gave me a lot more opportunities and things to learn from. It also demonstrates the responsibility you were given and how you are not thought of as just an intern, but part of the team.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • So much more responsibility than I could ever have thought!

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • This year was invaluable. I have learnt so much about working in a large business and a whole new industry I knew nothing about previously! Working closely with all aspects of the team i.e finance, marketing, sales, PR etc. allowed me to see the different types of roles that were available in a business and gave me more direction as to the path I want to take for a grad job. Attending different events and networking built up my contacts and again showed me other possible industries and careers I may wish to pursue. My confidence, team work and excel skills have all developed massively this year.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Such a fun and sociable team. Most people head worked in other departments/brands so everyone seemed to know everyone. The team would give recommendations as to who to have a networking lunch/coffee with to gain further insight into the company and the paths they had taken to get there. At the same time everyone was extremely hard working which was inspirational.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Set objectives for the year early and had mid and end of year reviews that were pushed by HR. The HR team also provided useful information regarding the grad scheme application process.

    4/5
