The Role
I really enjoyed my internship and felt that it gave me a good insight into what life is like at one of the Big 4 and in the service line I was in, in particular. I also really enjoyed time outside the office socialising with either members of my team or other interns.
Instantly made to feel like part of the team, being invited to many socials which were a good chance to get to know people outside of the office. You were always made to feel that the work you were doing was significant and that you were actually contributing something.
Interns are assigned a counsellor who provides support throughout your internship and helps you to get the most out of your time at EY. My counsellor was in touch regularly and provided good advice when needed. Additionally, I never felt afraid to ask other team members for help as everyone was very friendly and understanding and made time for you even if they were busy.
I would say I had work to do about 80% of the time I spent at EY. If I didn't have something assigned to me then I would ask around for work. My department had organised an intern project that I could be working on throughout the duration of the internship so this kept me busy for the other 20% of the time and was assessed at the end of the internship.
Although I did have opportunities to be involved in client work I didn't always feel that the work I was doing was that important or carried that much responsibility. However this is to be expected as you are only an intern!
Very relevant to my degree course and future career
The Company
Although during the day the office was fairly quiet with only occasional chit-chat, there was always at least one team social organised per week and so there was the opportunity to get to know the team then.
Overall the internship was well organised and the internship team kept in touch with us throughout the internship.
My team provided several training sessions throughout the internship which allowed me to further my knowledge of the industry I was working in. Additionally, EY is very big on feedback and so useful feedback from people I had worked with helped me to improve throughout the internship.

Company Parties/Events
I have been offered a graduate job with them.
The Culture
I met up regularly with other interns throughout the week and weekends. The internship team also organised a black tie event for us on our last evening which was a good way to say bye to everyone!
Expensive - it's London!
Lots of bars nearby the office to go for after work drinks.
Lots of team socials. There were also sports teams which interns could join if interested.
