The Role
Really enjoyed it on the whole. Was given varied things to do and colleagues were always happy to help when approached. Would have liked more tasks to be getting on with though, as sometimes I really had nothing to do and would have preferred to have been kept busy.
Friendly enough, they had their own jobs to be getting on with so fair enough didn't talk to them that much.
Plenty of help when I asked for it, and there was good tuition and explaining provided from graqd mentor and other people in the team.
mostly had a good balance. was never given an unmanageble amout to complete, or anything too taxing, but was bored for a short while on a daily basis. Understandable though as there is a limit on how much can be completed by an untrained intern!
Tasks were given to me and then handed back to grad or other team members to be checked. (This was a good thing though as would not have felt comfortable taking too much resposibility). Was trusted to call cleints to arrange inspections though which required a certain amount of responsibility.
Learned useful skills if I am to continue in the profession, and there are transferable computer and office skills, but not really going to help in my degree studies.
The Company
Concentrated. Fun and jokes fairly few and far between.
Really well organised. Lots of structure put in place to help us learn more about the business, and help us get to know more about each other. Really appreciated the departmental overviews, but two of the presenters didn't show up. It would also be better if teams were told of us joining abit further in advance so they coulkd stockpile tasks or think of things that we could do to try and reduce any boredness.
Taught how to use workflow software, but training was kept to very basic skills.
Sports and Social Club
Very appealing, Savills took lots of opportunities to sell themselves to us, and it worked!
The Culture
Met up on a weekly basis, and all interns seemed to have similar aims and desires to be sociable. Friendly and welcoming sports teams too!
London prices really are high. Cost of travel to commute to work the primary expense and socialising was also very costly.
Working in the city office but would go over to Margaret Street for the socials over there.
Sports match at the start of the placement, not a lot after that apart from the grad socials.
