The Role
Overall, it is a very good learning experience. Flexible working environment and supportive team.
It was a bit daunting in the beginning but as I started to develop my skills and ideas, they did value your contributions.
The managers and mentors were generally very kind and happy to answer your questions. But you are as well expected to learn a lot of stuff by yourself.
It varied from day to day. I was kept pretty busy most of times.
I was assigned two projects over the summer, roughly the right amount for me to finish.
I developed my programming skills which will be useful in many aspects. A job in this industry or stay in my engineering field.
The Company
Sometimes can be very quiet but in general interesting colleagues. Casual (no particular dress code).
Metaswitch has developed its internship system for many years and it does a good job.
I was given a significant amount of time to learn rather than just do the actual work.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
National Travel
Appealing, good staff retention rate.
The Culture
Yes.
Cambridge. Acceptable.
Not much apart from weekends.
Sports or some after-work drinks are organised regularly.
