The Role
It was a great experience, I feel like I've learned loads of useful information and skills and hopefully I have achieved something of use for ARM.
The potential application of my work was explained to me by my colleges which made me feel valued. My relationship with them was more professional than family-like though
There were a few weeks where the exact requirements of my project could have been better explained but that didn't mean I couldn't make progress.
The single, large project nature of the internship meant the only time I couldn't do anything is when I was stuck, there was always more too do but I wasn't hurried too much so it wasn't stressful
I felt like my work will have genuine use for the company in the future, although its primarily research so it isn't directly being used
If I ever do anything to do with OpenGL in my studies or in the future, I'll have a firm grounding in how to use it
The Company
I didn't socialise with my colleges as much as I would've liked to however this is at least as much my fault as theirs, when I did chat conversations were warm and welcoming and there were a few company organised meals out which were great
Excellent, nice project in terms of time required it fitted quite well with how long I am here. I was given plenty of resources to help with my work. The only negative was the odd IT issue taking some time to be fixed but this is generally hard to avoid.
There were doughnut sessions which I could learn new things in but they could've been promoted more than they were. I attended one training session out of interest even though it wasn't particularly relevant to my work.

Company Parties/Events
Tentatively optimistic, I'm only a first year so its still a few years before I'll be looking for a job and I'm obviously not up to the standard they need yet but any discussions about employment post uni have been positive with no firm commitments made. Personally, I would love to have a job here after university if one was going
The Culture
It was pretty good but it mostly organised in a group skype chat which I didn't manage to get onto so I missed out on a few things. It would be great if there was an official group chat from the start so all interns could get a chance to be added to it
Cambridge isn't the cheapest area to live in, approximately 70% of my wages went on rent although I did opt for a slightly nicer flat than I could've got
It was okay didn't go out too much in Cambridge mostly went to visit friends at home since I live nearby
Plenty of clubs and societies to get involved in which I opted not to take part in
