The Role
My colleagues treated me as if I was a new full-time starter.
I was left to figure some things out for myself but my supervisor was always happy to walk me though something if I had difficulty with it.
I always had some work to do, but I was not overworked
I worked on my project by myself but other people needed to use what I produced.
I have learnt some useful skills in programming, version control and the office environment.
The Company
Not quite a party, but relaxing and comfortable. There was a social atmosphere between everyone: some people brought in cakes for birthdays etc.
I had problems with my computer and couldn't login for the first 3 days but since then everything went smoothly. My supervisor helped me get started with everything I needed.
I didn't need much training and I already had a good grasp of programming so little time was spent on teaching me in a 1 to 1 fashion.

The Culture
HR set up social events and groups throughout the placement to help everyone get to know each other.
Pretty good value - nearby supermarkets and such. I chose to live in a cheaper place outside the city.
I didn't sample it much but I hear Wetherspoons is good at night.
Being close to the city there were plenty of out of work activities.
