  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was highly enjoyable, lovely work colleagues and other internship students. Everyone was very helpful and encouraging and a lot of responsibility was placed on myself even at the beginning which allowed me to be challenged

  • Highly valued! I did not want to leave everyone was so helpful if you were stuck they would go out of their way to assist in understanding and not only your role but the whole process.

  • As time went on I was given more responsibility which entailed more guidance which was very useful while I was there.

  • Relatively busy, sometimes would be quiet periods due to the nature of the job and end of day was extremely busy but there was usually other work to help with

  • Relatively high responsibility.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Very useful skills, allowed me to develop a greater understanding of financial markets and gave me a different perspective to use in my degree.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Friendly, fun but also serious nature, exciting and interesting

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Great organisation always busy with work but also lots of activities for interns. Presentations and activities with other interns allowed it to be fun and good organisation as well.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • High levels of personal training people helping you while you are doing your job but also several talks on different sectors of capital markets. There were also 2 days at the beginning of the internship providing further details into the financial world and the company as a whole

  • I have been offered a job to start working on the graduate scheme next year.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Very good social scene, with interns organising events in London every week after work but also even during lunch hours meeting up and talking to other interns happened regularly.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Subsidised bar and canteen made it much cheaper at work for socialising than the surrounding areas bars and shops which were expensive. I did not live in London and travel costs were high but RBC were good in providing money for travel.

  • Good in London, though expensive.

  • Yes, in terms of socialising with colleagues and interns
