About You
Very enjoyable day that provided plenty of useful information about life about the firm and as a city lawyer.
Everyone was willing to take time out to answer questions and talk to you about their work - they went to every effort to make us feel valued.
They provided useful information about making an application to the firm, and it was useful to be able to talk to current trainees about their experiences.
The information will be very useful for anyone considering a career in a city law firm. The day wasn't especially directed towards helping with your studies, but the exercises in negotiation and networking are generally useful.
The Company
Very well planned and run.
There was a good atmosphere, with the staff at A&O being very enthusiastic and friendly. Everyone got along well and bonded over the various exercises, and there wasn't a sense of competition.
The company helped develop various skills, and provided information that will be very useful in making an application to such a firm, or simply for deciding what to do with your career.
Besides the fact that the insight is short, they managed to give a full impression of what life at the firm would be like, and the various work that is done by trainees. Also gained a good sense of the other aspects to life there.
Obviously a gloss was put on the company, but speaking to the current trainees provided a good insight into how the company operates and what its values are.
Everything Else
Travel expenses were reimbursed up to a reasonable limit.
There was a reasonable opportunity to meet employees from the company, but networking wasn't really the focus.
There was a good opportunity to socialize - it was a theme throughout the day, rather than there being any particular event.
Yes - we were told about the various facilities at the company, and some of the things that staff there also get up to.
Definitely.
