  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

    • I thoroughly enjoyed the internship and am very glad the FSA offered me the placement, I hope I get on the grad scheme.

    • My team were nothing but wonderful and made me feel very welcome. Despite my lack in technical knowledge I always felt valued and felt like I contributed to the team efforts.

    • It was always explained to me from the beginning that I would be given responsibility and would assist the more experienced actuaries on firm projects rather than just writing minutes and doing admin.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?

    • The FSA is facing a very interesting and challenging time with the restructure of the company into the PRA and CPMA. I have been made to feel there is a future here.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

    • All the interns had an email distribution and we usually met up a few times a week for drinks and going out. We had lunch together, although not always the 40 of us together! I feel by the end of the internship I have made some long term friends.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?

    • I am from London so the cost is no different than usual for me. It isn't cheap but I don't find prices extortionate.
