The Role
People were friendly and welcoming, work was interesting.
People were friendly and helpful - made an effort to get to know me even though I was only there for a short period of time.
Had weekly catch ups with my project lead to monitor my progress.
Was given a good amount of work to get through whilst I was there. Also had a project to work on during quieter periods. Wasn't given too much to handle though as only had to stay late a small number of times.
I was given the same level of work as a new graduate to the firm would. Not too much responsibility that I felt overwhelmed but I was given enough to make me feel I was contributing to the company. The project involved making a spread sheet that will be developed further once I leave so it didn't feel as though my work was just a waste of time.
The work I was doing is done by new graduates by the firm so I feel better prepared for my role once I leave uni.
The Company
Colleagues were friendly and welcoming with good chat.
I didn't receive my induction pack until two days before I started. However training sessions were set up in he first two weeks so I learned the basic skills quickly - allowing me to get to grips with my role fairly quickly.
Provided with a learning log to fill out skills I had learned so my project lead could keep good track of my progress. I also had a more formal four week catch up where my team gave me feedback on what I was doing well and areas I could work on. This helped me identify my weaknesses so I could improve in the last four weeks.
Company Parties/Events
Would happily work with the company again however it is unclear what the procedure is with regards to getting a graduate job afterwards. Everyone seems to give a different story about what happens after the internship.
The Culture
Got to attend two away days with the rest of the office. Company also provided end of month drinks on pay day for the whole office.
Travelled from Edinburgh to Glasgow every day which was very expensive. With the Commonwealth Games accommodation was also very expensive - however Glasgow is generally a reasonable price.
Good amount of bars round about the office.
Social committee organised away days/pub quizzes whilst I was there,
