The Role
I got to experience life at ARM, including collaborating with others, managing my own work and attending meetings.
I was engaged with in discussions on my work and my thoughts and ideas were listened to.
I had a weekly one-to-one with my line manager. I also had numerous other engagements with senior engineers to discuss theory and regularly approached my 'buddy' to discuss anything project specific.
The first two weeks went slowly and I felt that I was given too much time to read up on context. However, once my objectives became clear, I was left to fill my time with my work as I saw fit.
I was given full responsibility for the main objectives of my project. About as much as you can expect for an Intern.
The internship has allowed me to continue improvement on my soft skills. It is hard to tell how my job specific skills will be useful in the future, but things like programming/linux practice is always useful.
The Company
Good atmosphere. Friendly people.
As interns work on live projects, the work that will be carried out is very uncertain until after arrival. I would have preferred to know more detail earlier.
No formal training, but I was only around for a few months. On the job training was suitable for my work.
