The Role
The structure was excellent, with lots of activities organised for the interns and a great group of people.
My line manager gave me constant feedback and lots of work to keep me busy!
Lots of review exercises arranged by the recruitment team as well as regular feedback from my manager and input from myself.
The first 2 weeks at my desk were a little bit slow, but after that I was kept very busy with individual responsibilities.
I had to keep several projects up to date, with others relying on me to do so. I also filled in for my manager a few times when she was ill / away.
Excellent exposure to the basics of the financial industry as well as some experience within specific areas.
The Company
Hard working environment but very few people worked extreme hours and there are cafe facilities for people to get a coffee and meet on a less formal basis.
Excellent events run for the entire class of 2014. Training and networking events were also very worth while. On the other hand, I am not sure my manager was quite ready for me to join the team.
I cannot believe how much time and money HSBC has invested in training me and encouraging me to find out more about the company and life working here!
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
I would like to work in a different team that better suits my strengths. However, this should be possible given the variety offered by a rotating graduate scheme.
The Culture
I have made some really good friends and I look forward to seeing some of them next year!
Canary wharf and London in general are extremely expensive. Drinks, transport, accommodation are all not cheap!
I enjoyed going to the pubs after work but I am not sure I would stay around here late into the evening.
We had a corporate responsibility half day organised for us, as well as lectures and social events. I would have enjoyed being able to play 5 a side at lunch times, for example.
