The Role
Quite well looked after within the team. Good variety of work.
Was given some responsibility but always had to push for more/take initiative. Attitude towards juniors within a consultancy company is different to solo standing businesses.
Line management very good. Technical management was also very good - always willing to help. All colleagues willing to discuss their expertise to help you
only about 70% full, ie not enough work to always be kept busy and working at full speed but never any serious down time. First week was completely however as no work was available until start of second week.
Once I realized the need to take initiative I was able to push for more responsibility. However it is not given as a matter of course
Developed a set of skills outside the scope of my degree - another string to the bow! Predominantly career skills gained such as time management, data handling, presentation confidence
The Company
Office is extremely friendly. Facilities very pleasant, good attitude towards rewarding staff
Poorly organized at the beginning - no accounts/ security + access set up. However workload was prepared for me to step into
No exceptional training invested due to period of placement (10 weeks). Was allowed time within scope of tasks however to familiarize self with tools used (eg VBA)
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Offer a very solid route to chartership. However, due to business being a consultancy, there are limited opportunities for juniors within the company
The Culture
moderate social scene. There were large office events however.
Bristol is medium-costly. Wide variety of rent costs available - you get what you pay for!
Brill. Large variety of clubs/bars. Only problem is can be quite expensive
None particularly. Mostly only available to grads and even that is a small scene
