The Role
The Accenture industrial placement was an engaging and challenging experience that provided me with unique and insightful opportunities.
Colleagues were willing to take time out of their day to provide me with support and guidance where required. This helped me to feel a valued member of the team.
Both of my managers provided detailed feedback in order to inform HR of my performance on the scheme. Both were willing to spend time with me to review my experiences and many senior managers were also happy to discuss my performance. This enabled me to feel appreciated and also identify areas for improvement.
My role was extremely challenging and demanding at times - with tight deadlines dictating sharp turn around times for deliverables.
I was given a lot of responsibility - leading client meetings and contributing towards the delivery of complex solutions and prospective projects.
I feel my placement has prepared me well for working life - helping me to become familiar with the industry and its demands. It provided me with a genuine insight to life after graduation and drove home how Universities often do not adopt the same working practices as the corporate world.
The Company
For the majority of my placements I was based on client site. This meant that the working environment was somewhat different to what I would expect in an internal environment.
The work placement was well structured and provided good training/learning opportunities. In particular, the induction week enabled everybody to learn and understand the work that is carried out at the company, as well as the expectations that the company held of us.
Accenture provided a good induction week which included training. Throughout the rest of the placement, training was less structured however many individuals within the company took responsibility for helping me to develop my skill set.

Working from home
I received very positive feedback from both of my managers whilst with Accenture and am optimistic of being offered a position.
The Culture
The other placement students were like-minded, outgoing individuals who had good social skills. Due to the demanding nature of the job, regular meets were however not realistic.
I was able to stay with family during my placement and therefore did not incur any living expenses.
The nightlife was good and the area lively with a number of nice bars and restaurants - all be it rather expensive!
Yes, there were a number of extracurricular activities to get involved with at the company. Although work commitments often meant that these were hard to attend regularly.
