The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my HR internship at The Body Shop. I had a great insight into Recruitment and Learning for Development (my two rotations); developing a wealth of skills.
I had great managers and colleagues during both my rotations and also really supportive directors.
I had appraisals throughout my rotations to check if I was meeting/surpassing my objectives. Alongside my weekly meetings with my manager, it was also a good time to identify any personal development needs I had highlighted myself. I felt my managers also acted as mentors; helping me reach my potential, develop key skills, as well as career advice.
During my Recruitment rotation I was very busy working on our Intern & Graduate Campaign/Milkround - which included attending Campus Events across the UK, conducting telephone interviews and also running assessment centres. My last months in the Learning for Development Team had a strong focus on project management; so I had to be very efficient in managing the training needs of different individuals across the business.
I played a key part in the co-ordination of The Body Shop Campus Events and organised all aspects of our London-based Assessment Centres (including invites, logistics, materials etc.). I was responsible for three training offers (end-to-end) during my Learning rotation. From liasing with HR Business Partners for nominations for trainings to working with providers on their needs for the day and collecting feedback from participants.
I have developed a vast amount of skills form my 12 month internship at The Body Shop and am now applying (& developing) them in my new permanent role at L'Oréal UK!
The Company
Great vibe, hard working, passionate!
Induction meetings set up in the first week and induction seminar within one month of joining.
My manager acted as a mentor during my internship - so gave me invaluable advice on prioritsing and diary management.

The Culture
Lots of places to eat and drink in London Bridge - I organised most of the intern/grad after-work events.
Lived at home with parents. Cost of socialising was reasonable for the City.
Less than 20 minute walk to Liverpool Street and less than 10 minute walk to Bank if people wanted to go out.
Each employee is entitled to a certain number of Volunteering Days per year. The entire HR Team completed a Volunteering Day together at two Animal Rescue centres close to our Littlehampton office.
