The Role
The work was enjoyable combined with great people to work with and the other interns.
I felt very valued - my manager and others always thanked me for my work and gave great feedback
Weekly one-to-ones and I felt very comfortable I could speak to my manager whenever I needed.
Very busy at some points and less at others, what I would have expected.
I was surprised at how much responsibility I was given during my placement. The work I was doing was valued and I felt I was really contributing to the organisation.
I definitely learnt very simple, but necessary things about how to use Microsoft Outlook! Also very useful skills such as presenting were improved throughout my placement.
The Company
A lovely atmosphere in the office, everyone was really friendly and there were regular department emails so that everyone knew what was happening.
My work was very well organised but it would have been nice to have a permanent desk throughout the latter half of my internship - difficult to achieve in a busy office but as you are there for 12 weeks it would be more convenient.
CV workshops and the opportunity to obtain a mentor meant that I felt quite invested in!
Very appealing - many of the employees I spoke to had done an internship within CRUK and I felt like it would be a great place to work.
The Culture
Regular intern socials and fundraising! All of the interns were lovely and as there were about 50 of us, there were always people to speak to.
I live in London anyway so it was just the same.
London nightlife really varies but Angel/Islington is a great area!
I was able to volunteer for the Jenson Button Triathlon and London Triathlon and there were lots of other opportunities.
