The Role
My internship was a great insight into the banking world and my experience was all the more enjoyable as I joined a great team where I felt instantly at ease. My manager has done is best to make me a part of the team, he introduced me to all the team members, allowed me to spend some time with each of them and gave me responsibilities early on.
Everybody in the team I joined spent some time with me to discuss their jobs and give me an insight into their daily tasks. I have received advice from all the people I met and have been able to work with quite a bunch of different people, which make the overall internship experience even more enriching for me.
I was never left on my own to perform a task, it has always been easy for me to reach help from my manager, his manager or anyone else arround me in the office. There was always someone to ask me if I was alright or needed any explanation on whatever subject or mission I had to achieve.
Over the ten weeks of my internship I have never been bored even for one second. I was always kept busy with a list of tasks to do, training sessions, discussions with RBS employees around their jobs, client meetings or social events.
I've had just the right amount of responsibility for a 10 weeks internship: I've been able to attend client meetings and to interact with different teams within the bank so as to do my work, but I was never left on my own when I needed help.
This summer internship helped me put in perspective what I'm studying at school. I think we learn much more when we are involved, and this first insight in banking will be a great asset for my future career.
The Company
Great atmosphere, employees are very cooperative and really work well with each other.
Well organized. Interns are kept busy all along, lots of events organized.
We have access to lots of different online training systems which is great. We were also able to attend speaker sessions from experienced and successful RBS employees et received a weekly newsletter putting the emphasis on one particular skill every week.

Company Parties/Events
Good work environment and great work life balance, definitely a good place to have a career.
The Culture
There were a lot of social events organized by my team, which was a great means for me to find my place within the team.
Edinburgh is way cheaper than London, and a great city to live in during the summer, especially with the festival taking place in August.
Great nightlife, always plenty of things to do.
