The Role
I really enjoyed it - the people were very friendly, the work was interesting, and the atmosphere was chilled yet abuzz.
Despite being interns with limited capabilities, my team did well to give me projects which allowed me to put forward ideas, which were fed into their investment decisions. The people were keen to listen to my contributions, gave high praise but also good at giving fair and useful feedback.
My team were generally good at finding time to help me, to talk through their roles as well as guide me on my projects. However, it is to be expected that interns are not their top priority and that everyone is very busy. The only place I felt this lacked was with HR, who unfortunately were quite difficult to contact and obtain information from.
The few times I wasn't busy with my project work, I was meeting people and doing extra curricular learning, for which the company provided plentiful resources.
My projects ranged from making changes to key pieces of software to putting forward my thoughts for investment decisions. All of my projects were used - my name has even been put down as chief developer for one of the tools I created.
Having not studied finance or anything similar at university, this really broadened my academic horizons, as well as opened my eyes to different career paths than I initially would have considered. I learnt something new every day, and worked on skills I already had.
The Company
Busy. Despite it being summer and a supposed lull, there were always things going on. Unfortunately, as an intern, this was rarely something I could get involved with. Overall, it seemed busy but relatively chilled - for the most part, everyone was on top of what they were doing.
At the beginning, I was very impressed by the events put on by HR in the way of intern socials. Unfortunately, these tailed away towards the end, however we'd all made enough friends by then that it didn't matter. A useful tutorial week prior to the internship was also useful, and meant that we came into the business having more of a feeling about how it worked than previously.
We had speakers and lunches with high up professionals. The 2 interns in the team I worked for had a personal Bloomberg tutor. There were plenty of online learning resources for studying asset management and finance.

At the moment, positive. If they offer me the job, which seems likely based on team feedback, I would happily accept.
The Culture
Yes. All the interns were very sociable and we held many events outside of the HR events. The team were very nice, and had team drinks every other week or so.
High cost of living and zero social life, but I decided to live in the financial centre. Outside of the centre, it is more reasonable and a better social scene.
Past the pubs after work, very little nightlife. We would travel further out for nigthlife, but this wasn't a problem.
I didn't hear of that many. There are a couple of social and sports groups within the company, but nothing that particularly appealed to me.
