The Role
I found it very interesting, and a great insight into what it would be like to work as a graduate at KPMG
I felt integrated into the team, in the same way a new grad would be. Everyone was really friendly.
Given that I had no experience of accoutancy at all, I felt very well supported. Work was explained in a clear way, and everyone was very helpful.
It varied a lot. One of the client jobs I worked on, was extremely busy, and I was required to work until late at night. However at other times it was fairly relaxed, and I found myself asking colleagues for more work.
When writing reports I was given a lot of responsiblity in terms of the sources I used, and that information I included. However most of the work involved completing set processes, for which there wasn't much decision making needed. I was never left alone without more senior supervision, so rarely had to make big decisions. I was given a lot of freedom to manage my workload in the way I preferred.
The internship probably will not help with my degree at all. However hopefully I will be offered a graduate positon at KPMG. The experiences here would be very useful in any line of business.
The Company
Very friendly. It was a serious work environment, as I expected.
Very well. Perfect amount of social events of interns.
All training was provided on the job, but I had learnt a huge amount.
Subsidised Canteen
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Very appealing.
The Culture
It was perfect, not too much, but not too little.
I live near to the office anyway.
As expected for a small city.
A few, including a CSR event.
