The Role
The work is really varied and gave a good insight into what you would be doing in a graduate role. Unfortunately, as with all internships, the summer months are the quietest in audit so you do not see the office at it's busiest.
Everyone at KPMG is very kind and friendly to new people.
There is always someone to help if it is needed. Everyone is friendly and asking questions is encouraged.
I was definitely kept busy helping a variety of clients. But in the summer months audit is a 9-5 job so I did not get a glimpse into the stress that happens at year end.
I was given quite a lot of responsibility and I was made to feel like my input was valued. However, someone will check over everything you do before it is finalised.
The training is definitely valuable. I would recommend it to everyone!
The Company
The office is very open and there are always people around to ask questions etc. However, because there are always so many people out on site I feel like I still didn't meet everyone in the team before the end.
Once you become part of the KPMG team everyone is very helpful. There are lots of links and tuorials to help you to understand the general business things in the office. The initial recruitment team is quite poor and unhelpful.
I feel like the skills learnt will be very helpful when finding a graduate job.
Subsidised Canteen

Company Parties/Events
Very. This is all completed after your internship ends.
The Culture
There weren't very many other interns so not really. But there were lots of lunches/ dinners with the other colleagues.
Edinburgh isn't the cheapest city to live in!
The internship was during the Edinburgh Festival so the nightlife was great
There are lots of clubs and sports, however when here for such a short time it is hard to get involved.
