The Role
I was treated just like anyone else on the team. The work I was given was challenging enough that I didn't feel like I was just being given "make work"
Everyone was always really friendly and easy to get on with. They were always very supportive if you needed help.
We would have monthly 1-2-1 meetings with our managers, where we would be able to voice any concerns we had about anything. They would always get back to you very quickly as well if there was anything that couldn't wait.
Our project was scheduled very well so there was always work available for you to do. There weren't many occasions where I didn't have much to do.
When I was given I task to do I was trusted to be able to find the best solution. However due to how large the system we were working with was, some of the more difficult tasks were, quite rightly, given to people with far more experience
I learned quite a few languages on my placement, I also managed to improve my ability to design software a lot better. One of the main things to me however is I learned to improve my time management skills, as you really had to be on the ball a lot of the time.
The Company
With the project I was on having gone on for such a long time, everyone all knew each other very well and got along. There was always a lot of banter during breakfast/lunch
Lockheed Martin have had their placement scheme go on for quite a while so everything was quite well organised. They were also always very welcome for any ideas as to how it could be improved
With my job in particular a lot of the training was done on the job with the help of other members of the team. However they do have courses available for those who need a little more help. As well as access to a website to allow you to download any books you might need.

I have received a "letter of intent", where provided they have a job available and I am able to graduate, I will have a job with them
The Culture
There were many many nights out in Portsmouth, the other interns were quite a laugh
Portsmouth can be quite cheap for a night out, although it does have its more expensive areas
There's plenty of clubs around town/gunwharf as well as massive amount of pubs if you prefer a more quiet one
There were quite a few opportunities to help out in different airshows around the country,
