The Role
I loved my workplace and enjoyed every bit of work during my internship
I felt welcomed and loved by all my colleagues
I was given sufficient support whenever I needed help. I needed to even ask; everyone had a lot to share with me.
I was extremely busy; I worked 12 hours a day for 4 days each week.
I was monitoring the hydrogen compressor to report deviations from ideal working conditions. It was a very important role as failure of the compressor could lead to the failure of the entire plant.
My internship helped me get familiar with all the vessels I had studied in my Engineering classes.
The Company
I worked in a team of 14 with alternating shifts of 4 teams. It was always busy and we had to stay in the chemical plant through the entire shift.
My internship was very organised as the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation happens to be one of the biggest oil companies in Africa with high experience.
To me, I would say not much. We the interns never had to travel for excursions or visit other plants as everything from production to sales was done in the single plant.
