The Role
I have had thoroughly enjoyed my 10-week summer internship within a marketing team. I have learnt so much about the beauty industry and have been exposed to all angles of marketing. The people and 'culture' of L'Oreal really suited me and has made the whole experience even more fun!
I have felt extremely valued by my team throughout my internship. I have helped them with everyday tasks and preparation for important meetings. But I have also had a chance to work on a couple of unique projects to help the team with new strategies and directions for the franchise. I always felt as though my opinion was valued and had the opportunity to input in many discussions.
My management have always helped me out and supported me whenever I needed their help. Having a graduate on the team also greatly helped me to fit into the programme and make the most out of it as possible. Due to the very fast-paced nature at L'Oreal sometimes management were extremely busy and unable to help me out- but there is always someone else you can ask!
I was always very busy and had to manage my time to make sure I got everything done. But having lots of tasks to work on and different projects has meant that I have really made the most out of the internship and learnt as much as I could!
I was given responsibility throughout my internship, increasing as time went on. This meant that I never felt overwhelmed but felt as though I was able to make a difference and really help the team out.
Although I study an unrelated degree to my internship, the skills I have developed will be extremely valuable. In particular I have been able to develop my teamwork, researching, creative and analytical skills over the ten-weeks. I have also and the opportunity to present my ideas to managers. I believe all of these skills, as well as everyday ones (e.g. organisational and time-management) will help me greatly in the future, and during my last year at university!
The Company
Everyone in the office was really approachable, helpful and enthusiastic making the floor a lot of fun to work on and always a happy environment.
The internship was set up really well, ensuring that I could really make the most out of the scheme. The interns also had socials and activities organised providing an opportunity to meet and socialise with many other interns.
I believe the company has invested a great deal in helping me to improve and expand as much as possible throughout my internship. I was able to work on my weaknesses and expand my knowledge as much as possible.

L'Oreal has a really well regarded Graduate Programme. All interns are given the opportunity to try and apply to the scheme and potentially have an interview at the end of the internship. Providing interns with a clear opportunity to have future employment at L'Oreal.
The Culture
Yes! Socials and networking events were organised and it was very easy to meet other students and socialise. Nights out as well as day activities were organised and the large volume of interns meant it was very easy to meet lots of placement students easily.
In comparison to other areas of London the area is cheeper to live in and it is more possible to walk to work. This greatly reduced my travel expenses.
The surroundings areas had bars, pubs and clubs so nights out were easy and could be done relatively cheaply. However, most organised nights out involved travelling further into the city.
Opportunities were available in sports and some other activities including yoga.
