The Role
I enjoyed my time with SAP very much. SAP is one of the few companies where the hierarchy is flat. People are always willing to help despite being junior. Closely supporting Directors is the best way to witness first hand management with strategic decisions. The placement is heavily driven by your own initiative. I gain invaluable experience and a large network.
Being an intern in a large cooperation, it is easy to be "cheap labour". The presales department did not treat me as one. Work contributed and awards won has always been recognised.
Working under the Head of Presales UKI, I never have felt neglected, unable to speak my mind or ask questions to my manager. The Presales team as well as the management are always supportive and willing to give advice.
Work load is driven by how much you put into it. In presales you will not be able to slack. There were times where I worked extremely long hours though that was because I wanted to put in the extra effort to produce an outstanding output.
I was able to run several of my own and build initiatives- An internal TV show, Demand Generation Sessions, etc
Soft skills developed tremendously where we're expected to use certain limbic techniques to make our presentations memorable. There was abundant of resources for training where the quality was top notch.
The Company
Very supportive and hierarchy is flat. There is opportunity to engage and work directly with Directors, VPs and C-Level.
Quite structured. More at the start, though once comfortable, you can branch out and structure your own path to an extend
