The Role
It has been my second experience at RBS. Before the summer internship, I did a 6 months internship at RBS Paris. I really enjoyed my time there and I had the same feeling once in London. RBS is a really welcoming bank, with managers always ready to answer your question even those at a very high level of seniority.
I had some bad experiences in the banking world. Being an intern is not always easy as you don't always feel that your work is appreciated. On the contrary, at RBS, I met friendly colleagues that were always willing to share their knowledge but also know more about myself.
I never felt lost. If I had any questions, somebody was always here to answer it. I have never been bored as I always had work but never felt overwhelmed either.
It depends on the rotation. My work hours have been in average 8.30 AM to 7 PM for the first rotation and 7.50 AM to 8 PM (or 11 PM on a few occasions) for the second one.
Once again it will depend on your rotation. I have been able to help my team with their real work. I produced slides and analysis that have been used in pitches which is always a great feeling. I felt like my job was valued and it was really encouraging.
I learned a lot about Corporate Banking, Derivatives, loans valuation. I am sure it will help me understand my studies better.
The Company
Serious but not frightening.
I never had any problems
Before starting the Fitch training, I thought that it would be redundant and didn't really want to go. But I actually learned interesting things that I will use in my future career.
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
RBS is growing and junior are really well treated.
The Culture
We had many parties organised by RBS. It was easy to socialize and we didn't feel forced to go.
It's London. Rent is very expensive but social life is ok.
It's London. Many things to do, or drink.
We had a CSR day, a sport day, and a charity day. Many interesting activities that helped us building relationships
