The Role
As a university student, I was assigned my own project and enjoyed taking it through from concept stage to formulation in the lab.
I have been involved in assisting on major projects and feel that my help was appreciated.
My line manager was very supportive and was always available if I needed help.
As it was my own project I could work at a pace that was ideal for me.
As an assistant I didn't have many situations where the responsibility was fully mine.
There is a lot of formulation involved in my degree, so this placement definately improved that aspect.
The Company
We had social events for the department so people got to know each other outside of work.
My line-manager was very organised on the work that she wanted me to complete.
I was trained on all equipment from basic to advanced, and attended presentations explaining all the rules and regulations that were relevant to my work.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Really enjoyed working for the company.
The Culture
There was an intake of 40 students so it was very easy to make friends with other students. Hull is a very small town so your definately bound to bump into someone that you know on a night out.
My university is in London so in comparison it was a lot cheaper!
Most of the clubs and bars are close together in the centre of town. But if you get bored of those places then there is also another street away from town that also has a good nightlife.
I joined the local gym.
