The Role
I very much enjoyed my work placement with Lidl.
I always felt valued by my collegues and superiors during my time with Lidl.
I was always given support and guidance from all members of management and supervisors.
I was always kept busy with new and interesting tasks.
I was given the responsibility of a deputy store manager and was often left in charge of running the whole supermarket, something i particularly enjoyed.
Having obtained a dissertation topic based about what i have learnt on my placement and learning aspects of supply chain and management from a first hand basis i feel that my placement will assist me greatly going into my final year and beyond.
The Company
I was placed in many departments during my placement learning about the business as a whole and always got on very well with them all.
The placement is extremely well set-up with regular appraisals and a clear and structured timetable.
Spending time in each department i was given significant training for each so i feel the company invested a lot in me throughout the 48- weeks
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
With such a greatly expanding business i could definitely see myself working for the organisation again.
The Culture
We met up with the other placement students around the country on various occasions throughout the placement. This was all organised by head office.
Cost of living was very cheap and it obviously helped working for a discount retailer!
Working full time i could not see as much of the nightlife as i did at university but living in a different city was good to experience its nightlife!
There were many opportunities including work parties and sporting events.
