The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed the placement and it allowed me to gain a great experience and grasp of the industry and day to day office life. It is a very sociable placement with activities being arranged throughout, would have been good to have more site visits though.
In a way I felt lucky that I was in a team that made me feel welcome from the start, others weren't so lucky as they seemed to struggle to fit in and feel part of their team. It does depend a lot on what team you get placed into.
Each summer scheme member has a graduate mentor who constantly helps out and supervisors you throughout.
Was never sat around waiting for work to do.
I was in an environment where I felt I was trusted with the work that I was given which in turn led to them placing more responsibility upon myself.
The work you undertake it quite specific to the team that you work in and not necessarily specific to the work you would like to do and the career path you want to follow. Again, dependant upon the team that you are in.
The Company
Great atmosphere with everyone happy to have a laugh allowing you to settle in very quickly.
Very well organised which allows you to focus upon the work you are give.
Difficult to do in a short period of time.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
They seem to focus upon bringing through 'their own' with a number of the directors having been through the scheme.
The Culture
The job is based upon socialising and networking and this was clear to see with the amount of events put on by Savills. Whether it be a sporting event, in house presentations/networking or charity events, there was always 2 or 3 events on each week.
It's London, what do you expect.
As above, great varied nightlife but it comes at a cost.
Plenty of events placed on outside of work. Sports events were on every week as well as a couple of charity parties.
