The Role
My internship gave me a great insight into a Professional Career and the work that would be expected me of during my time. I enjoyed the challenges and the environment within the firm. Overall my time at KPMG has been a great learning experience.
My volleagues gave me the same tasks that would be expected of someone with much greater knowledge than myself with a great amount of help. This made me feel very valued an a great part of the teams I was part of.
All the time, not only would my supervisors be friendly and approachable, but also had great advice about not only the job but the career as a whole.
Very busy. There is a lot of work expected from everyone within the firm and there isn't a moment that passes where you won't have something to do. It can be stressful at times but it is rewarded upon.
A lot more than expected. Work is given and explained to me, but then I am left to complete it by myself however necessary. There was interaction with clients and the services available at KPMG which was left to myself and I was responsible to ensure everything on my end ran smoothly.
My degree is Maths and as such doesn't relate all that much to the job, however it has taught me valuable skills such as client interaction, workload management and how to professionally work.
The Company
The office is quiet whilst work is completed, but there isn't a reserved atmosphere about the place. There is the oppurtunity to chat with colleagues and ask for help wherever, but hard work is prevalent within KPMG and this shows in the office spaces.
Very well organised, but day 2 I was out of the office and working within a clients office for the rest of the week, and this occurred each week with different clients thorughout my internship.
There was training given to me on the first day, and throughout my time with the firm there was online training to complete where posible.
Subsidised Canteen
After my internship with KPMG I have learnt that this is the career for me!
The Culture
As the office I was working in was only small in comparison, there was only myself as an intern there. However, there were still offers to meet socially with colleagues depsite the short amount of time I was working.
Much cheaper than what I am used to!
I didn't really expeirence it.
Yes, unfortunately though, whilst being invited to many of them, they mostly occurred outside of my time with the firm.
