The Role
Couldn't have imagined a better place to work in terms of self-development whilst not feeling pressurised at all. Would HIGHLY recommend.
I was given time to talk about how my project was going in meetings and everyone would listen and seem genuinely interested. They would treat me exactly the same to everyone else. We had team socials which were really fun and relaxed.
If I ever had a problem my manager and other team members wouldn't even hesitate to offer help - very approachable. My manager would come over at least once a day and ask if I had any questions, and if I did he would sit with me and solve them, making sure I understood every detail.
Occasionally had few things to do whilst waiting for prototypes to come back but mainly a good balance.
I was given the opportunity to design a whole part based on an idea I came up with in the first week and therefore experience the entire design process from start to finish.
CAD is the main skill that has been developed, as well as an appreciation for fine details and doing everything to standards.
The Company
Very relaxed, everyone is easy going, no feeling of stress. However as you are trusted to get on with your work you still have your own personal sense of urgency and motivation - I really enjoyed this way of working.
I believe my project was organised but then in the first week it suddenly changed due to an idea I had that they wanted me to develop, so I can't really comment - however I have followed a very organised process since then.
You can book on to a huge amount of courses that they offer to develop yourself, even if it isn't specifically related to your work - all free and very good.

I would happily return and work at Dyson, and believe that I would have a good chance because of performing well in my internship.
The Culture
Got a good large group of interns and we went for lunch together every day and then out in Bristol the majority of the weekends. Socials with my team mates were also organised and fun.
Lived in Bristol which has a relatively standard cost of living for a southern city.
Fantastic Nightlife in Bristol.
Groups are organised and posted on the Dyson Intranet - everything from football to playing in a band to airsoft has a representative which organises events. Very easy to enroll.
