The Role
Throughly enjoyable year spent with a fantastic group of colleagues. ProspectSoft enabled not only an insight into real life business situations but also a years worth of personal/character growth.
Truly felt like a member of the team from day 1 and felt trust/value greatly exceeded the actual time I spent at the company. First placement student to ever be placed on the 'expert panel' at our highly attended events and sole management for one of products, I feel little else could be done to have been valued.
Management doors are always open and more than willing to offer assistance and support when needed. The department in which I worked should have been sick at my constant queries but never showed it and would always help me, in which I am greatly appreciative.
I had a perfect balance and eventually got to experience many different business processes.
Responsibility is a big part of the ProspectSoft placement and as expected I was rewarded with a lot of it. At times, it can be overwhelming the amount you are given but in turn you build important life skills such as time management and focus. You are also set targets which is a fantastic way of increasing responsibility and pushing personal development.
After 395 days on placement at ProspectSoft I would not recognise Day 1 me if we bumped into each other in the street. Confidence, Social skills, Awareness, Work ethic, Focus are amongst a small selection of skills that have increased greatly. These are not just skills to take back to University but skills that will benefit me for the rest of my life. ProspectSoft over the 13 months are fantastic at character building and bringing even the most introverts out of their shells. As ProspectSoft is an SME it is impossible for you not to benefit as you are such an integral part of the team. I feel within a larger organisation you are a much smaller cog in the business works thus much less of a chance to develop life skills.
The Company
Fantastic group of people and a great working environment - I traveled to work everyday knowing I would be in fits of laughter sometime during the day. The laughs were great but everyone knew when to knuckle down and work hard. It was great to work within this atmosphere because placement years are designed to be enjoyable but you are also there to work hard. It was a great balance.
Extremely well organised, targets were set and work was always there to get involved in. Due to the nature of the business opportunities during the placement year would always arise and it is down to the individual to take them. A months training at the beginning of the placement year really sets you in stead to hit the grown running.
Extremely accommodating, as stated above the months training is extremely well organised and sets you in great stead to hit the ground running. It also enables management at ProspectSoft to identify key strengths you may initially hold and to best place you into you years role at the company. Placement roles are extremely flexible at ProspectSoft so the role you enter will always suit your skills. There are great opportunities for additional training throughout the year such as visiting expos.

Graduate employment is commonly practiced at ProspectSoft and I would liken the Placement to a years long interview. I am delighted to be returning to ProspectSoft after University and will actively recommend a Placement with ProspectSoft around my University campus.
The Culture
There was a great social scene amongst the company - plenty of meals/drink nights organised as well as an active sports scene.
The office is located in Stokenchurch a small village just of the M40 closest to High Wycombe and a 15 minute drive from Oxford. I lived at home and commuted to work each day so cannot comment on the cost of living. However, the cost of socialising was more than reasonable.
Oxford has suitable Nightlife as it is a University city.
Large variety of activities were organised by staff such as movie nights, badminton, tennis, 5 a-side football, cycling trips, rockclimbing. The opportunity is always there to set up your own activities everyone in the office is friendly enough.
