The Role
Quite informative, a lot of insight into working within this division of the bank. Also allowed to go and shadow within other divisons so you dont feel so tightly pigeon holed within one division. Work got repetitive late on, but social side was really good.
I was made to feel my work during the internship was significant and had a big impact on the departments objectives, and this was reconfirmed at the final review. Quite nice to have on your CV and makes the scheme more meaningful.
Support was always available when I needed it and I was given a team that was always ready to help me when I needed it and talk me through things when necessary. Obviously some people have busier schedules, so sometimes you need to find the right people to ask yourself. Part of the job though.
Pretty busy, always something to do. Sometimes a little bit repetitive, sometimes a lot of downtime which can be nice in spurts. seems like it varied between interns though.
A lot of responsibility and a lot of autonomy in how you go about doing your work, particularly for my internship. Again this varied between different interns and their line-managers.
I wouldnt say I learned new technical skills, but definitely a good opportunity to experience a workplace and get used to that kind of environment. A lot of the technical skills from university were used though, so good for CV in terms of putting skills into practise.
The Company
Good banter, good working environment. Everyone is friendly and makes it easy to work. Big office, lots of faces to get to know, but makes it fun.
Not very well organised to be honest, depends who your line-manager is and what they have planned for you. some people do not do much, others do a lot more and have a much more rigid structure. I was pretty inbetween.
Not a great deal really, gave me project work to finish and assisted in me getting to know my role. Nothing more than that though. I suppose it was a lot to expect from 10 weeks. Nothing substantial though.

most people offered grad jobs, and they support you in trying to get offered that position. The grad scheme is quite attractive for some, but not all, schemes.
