The Role
Massively - hugely beneficial experience, met great people and learned a lot.
Colleagues were mixed as in anywhere but multiple individuals went out of their way to ensure the experience was as good and valuable as possible.
The teaching was incredible. I went in with zero knowledge of derivatives and have come out able to price some quite complex options.
In sales never a quiet moment, in research everybody works at their own pace. When I asked for more work it was given.
Damn loads - given a succession of projects to work on that made it through to final published pieces of research and actual models used by sales teams.
More in first 2 weeks than 2 years at uni.
The Company
Ranged from absolute banter in sales to headphones-in-ears in research. Enjoyed both to be frank.
Events, breakfasts, talks, training, project after project, networking, drinks events and socials - you name it, it was done.
1 week of solid training upfront, then ongoing education and access to a vast library of material to learn from as well as hands-on tutoring (when asked for) from relatively senior individuals with a massive amount of real world product experience.
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
I don't suspect I'll be getting an offer, was told I lack the 'corporate life attitude', whatever that means.
The Culture
People are real. The stereotype of course is that interns at other banks are not... but I'm sure they must be. Anyway, very cool people.
Not too bad - the firm paid for most drinks I drank around the Wharf, and I live across town.
Around Canary Wharf? Lots of bars which are quite corporate and therefore hardly exactly raves, and I don't know of any nightclubs there... we tended to party out West in central.
Charity events, business groups, etc.
