The Role
Definitely a great experience, you have to work hard but it is also a lot of fun!
Getting thank you emails after completing pieces of work definitely made me feel valued!
If you wanted support it was available - management take time to sit with you and discuss how things are going at several points during the internship.
Most days were packed from start to finish, but this is very much down to the individual and whether you proactively ask for work or not.
You would be surprised at the level of responsibility - sometimes this does not involve difficult tasks, but they are very important and getting it wrong can have negative consequences so it's important to do your best in every task and focus on the detail!
The practical skills I learnt on Microsoft Office and on data service providers will likely be useful in any future career, as well as the soft skills picked up along the way, such as how to develop professional relationships.

The Culture
The social scene is what you make of it but it is difficult to socialise in IB given the long hours.
Very expensive but plenty of choice
There are opportunities, but given the long hours this is pretty much irrelevant for those in IB
