The Role
Great fun- hours were long but easily manageable and I was kept busy enough that the days flew past. Everyone, without exception, was very helpful and willing to teach you even if you approached them and asked politely.
Almost everyone explained why the work I was doing was helpful and how they planned to use it. This made me feel as though my work was valuable rather than just something to keep me busy.
On my desk I was lucky in that the majority of the team had come through the internship program. As a result they could relate easily and often gave me guidance on how to make the most of the opportunity.
The first few weeks were a bit slow but that was to be expected. From the halfway stage onwards, it was hectic.
I got given far more responsibility than I had expected or even hoped for. Did work that was sent to clients and internally to all employees.
Learnt an incredible amount for what was a fairly short period of time (8 weeks). Will definitely come in handy in the future.
The Company
Trading floor during summer so it was a bit quieter than I had expected. Very friendly and whilst it was professional, it was far from boring or cold.
Smooth throughout.
Summer internship so it wasn't so much about these things in a formal setting.
Company Parties/Events
Got a place on the graduate scheme starting next summer.
The Culture
Very friendly intern group. Went for drinks once or twice a week- almost everyone got on and helped each other with work too.
Central London...
Again, Central London so plenty of places to go out- caters for almost anything.
It was only a short internship so there wasn't much for us but I noticed around the office plenty of activities: football/charity work/fundraising.
