The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed my 8-weeks at the firm. I was placed on two different clients, working on completely different projects in the North East. This exposed me to different industries, sectors and people, and meant I got a rounded and comprehensive experience. The level of responsibility given also meant I got a lot out of the internship!
Colleagues made me feel a valued member of the team, I regularly got acknowledgement for the work I did for them, and they definitely appreciated the work I did for them. I also felt colleagues would always make time for you if you had a question, or wanted to find out more information about something. This is something I cannot fault! Also got invited along to additional events during the internship by colleagues, such as workshops and talks by other PwC staff, as well as a Quarterly day in London, which was great!
Support and guidance was always available. I found my people manager and buddy to be useful if I had a question about how to approach a piece of work or what to do in a certain situation. I also found other colleagues were willing to offer support and guidance if you asked, which was really useful.
Towards the end of the internship I found myself doing work into the evenings/at weekends to meet deadlines, but this was manageable and realistic of a graduate job with them. At times I had less client work to do, which would then allow me to complete some of the other work that I had to do, such as a research project. Overall, I always had something to do, but it was perfectly manageable.
Lots. I had work to do that was being used directly for clients, such as creating powerpoint slides, that were going to be used by colleagues in presentations. Also, towards the end of the internship I was made responsible for carrying out research into a new project proposal. I was given an outline of the information I needed to find out, and was left to complete it. This was an important piece of work, and was going to be used by colleagues in a project campaign. As well as this, with some of the other interns in the Leeds office, we were responsible for undertaking a thorough research project that was to be presented in front of senior members of staff. This was a major piece of work, and directly managed by the respective teams.
Excel and Powerpoint skills developed during the 8-weeks will be of great use for my degree. Other skills, such as time management, communication and teamwork will be useful for life.
The Company
I didn't spend too much time in the office, as throughout the week I was based on client site in the North East. Nevertheless, I was there most Friday's, and they were always good fun. The atmosphere was relaxed and there was some good banter between colleagues.
Overall, the majority of the time it was well organised. I was placed on client work from the start and throughout the 8-weeks, and the internship generally ran very smoothly. On some occasions there was some confusion, but this is to be expected in the unpredictable consulting world, where things can change very quickly!
The firm invests heavily in training and development. I attended an initial 3-days residential induction, providing all of the interns with the necessary training to complete their role. This included areas such as technical training. Additionally, throughout the internship they provided regular workshops on a Friday in the office, as well as a really useful quarterly day in London.

I have accepted a graduate job offer with them.
The Culture
The interns tried to create a good social scene, but this proved difficult given how the majority of us were out of the office Monday-Thursday on different client projects around the region. We did however try to meet up most Friday's after work for food and drinks which was a nice end to the week!
Leeds is really reasonable, I found nothing to be too expensive!
I didn't manage to get to any of the clubs, but the bars were very good. I imagine the nightlife is great here.
There was a Director/Partner meal for the interns, and I went to the cinema with a group of colleagues on my last client project. Also, as I was based away from the office, I went out for meals with colleagues. Generally speaking, there weren't that many opportunities brought to my attention.
