The Role
Very much enjoyed working for Rolls-Royce. The work was very interesting and enjoyable, and all the employees were very friendly and helpful.
My colleagues placed trust in me and expected me to deliver to the project. They also cared for my development and invested a lot of time in to me.
Fully supported me during my work. Happy to answer any questions I had and always explained things very well.
I was never without work to be getting on with. The amount of work ramped up as the placement went on and was very varied.
As an intern you are never going to be 'running the show' but I was given ownership of a large piece of work which meant I was very responsible for this task. I was also given responsibility of contributing to other lines of work including presenting internally and externally.
I think this experience will prove very useful when i return for the final year of my degree, especially for our large group projects. The placement also provided an opportunity to cement some engineering fundamentals, and provided the degree with a good industrial context.
The Company
The office had a really good atmosphere. Everyone worked hard but also had a laugh. I really enjoyed working with everyone in my team.
HR were very effective at organising my placement, and always kept me informed during the application process. When i arrived at ny team there were a few IT issues. Most were resolved quickly. One took a few weeks.
I was given all the necessary training and my team spent a lot of time helping me to learn about the projects. They never had the attitude that they won't invest in me because I'm only there for 10 weeks which was great.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
I hope to be offered a place on the Graduate Development Programme, which I would certainly accept!
The Culture
Made lots of friends amongst the interns and graduates. Plenty of social event such as pub nights to get to know everyone. Also went out for a curry with my team.
Bristol is a fairly expensive place but is great so it's worth it!
Loads going on. Very vibrant and diverse city. Lots of bars, restaurants and clubs.
Played in the R-R golf day which was a great event. There a loads of trips and sports clubs organised by the Apprentice Association (the R-R Bristol social society).
