The Role
The internship was very enjoyable, I enjoyed both the work and office environment which was superb. The Sports and Social club is a brilliant way to get involved with the office and have some fun.
The work I produced was used directly in the projects I worked on.
Nothing was ever too much, when asking for help. Everyone in the office was happy to help and took the time to explain it clearly and carefully.
The work load varied depending on how the rest of the team were working to the schedule. Being a consultancy there are periods when there is no work for you to do as the amount of work is dependant upon the supply. However most of the time the work load was ample and I never felt that I was being put under pressure.
The level of responsibility was fairly significant as the projects in which I worked on I was given a lot of control on how I managed my time and how I went about the work.
I am yet to start my final year however, I already feel more focussed and also the way I manage my time and go about my work feels more focussed and professional.
The Company
The office was a happy fun environment, which resulted in never feeling under pressure or stressed. There was a large number of grads which gave a very young feel to the office which for a Summer Student meant a lot of similar aged employees. The sports and Social club as already mentioned, ran weekly football, and cricket teams along with other events giving good opportunities to socialize with colleagues outside of the office.
Really well, I was on a project within my first week before being given another project that I saw through from conception to completion.
It was possible to complete online training in a variety of different areas using the company's online portal. In a ten week placement the level was what would be expected.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Very, I will be applying for a grad job, as all the grads I have spoken to really enjoy it and the grad scheme is excellent.
The Culture
Yes as mentioned previously.
Derby was very cheap compared to living in Birmingham where I go to uni.
Poor, however Nottingham was only a short train away or relatively cheap taxi ride from my accommodation.
Yes, see my previous comments regarding sports and social.
