The Role
Tough work, but an enjoyable insight into working life as an engineer.
In general I was valued, but sometimes it was difficult to gain attendance in arranged meetings/sessions from more senior members of the company.
Lots of support given.
First few weeks and the last were a bit quiet, but once in the flow of work, there was enough to get on with.
No responsibility was given on parts or things like that, but I had some on my projects, developing a system for them to use.
Less technical than skills I'll use at university, but qualities such as teamwork and time management will be transferable.
The Company
Good atmosphere in the office. People were enjoying their time there, and having a good laugh along with there work. A relaxed feel.
Well organized. Clear objectives set for the intern at the start. Interim and final reviews left the intern knowing exactly how well they'd performed.
Training was mostly just to do with learning the company methods. Senior member of the office dedicated a lot of time to aiding me with this.

I would probably accept a place on the graduate scheme if I was to be offered one, although I would want to specialize in a different area than that of my placement.
The Culture
Yes, we had an organized social night including a meal, a trips to the pubs and to the clubs after this. Enjoyable night.
Reasonable cheap. I paid £75 a week to lodge, and socializing wasn't too expensive.
It was OK. Atmosphere in some places was a little odd.
There were a couple.
