The Role
Had a great time, learned loads and felt useful throughout, which makes a massive difference.
Was generally well valued, being invited along on staff do's, whilst also being thanked and appraised when I helped them.
Helped out by my manager's and supervisors whilst not being made to feel that they were overbearing or that I was a burden upon them.
I was kept busy almost all the time, and if not was very easy to find work.
I was given some responsibilities such as the setting up, planning and carrying out of audits, there could have been more client work and responsibilities, however I still managed to do an offsite audit.
The amount I have learned from the training and skills developed is immeasurable. In my first week alone, I learned a huge amount from across the financial spectrum, from how to file a tax return to other jobs and information about finance. After the initial induction week, I learned not only practical skills with Excel spreadsheets and how to deliver a good presentation but also other financial and accounting skills that will certainly stick with me.
The Company
A fun and friendly atmosphere, where everyone is welcoming from the off, and takes a genuine interest in you.
As the only intern in my department, and one of two in the office, there was no real applicable scheme; nonetheless, there was always work for me to do and someone to go to if I had an issue.
My first week, I spent a day or half a day shadowing someone to find out what they did. Other than that I found that whenever I needed help of seniors or even managers they were always happy to invest their time into helping my understanding.
Company Parties/Events
Got to wait and see, but I would definitely consider working with them.
The Culture
Every last Friday of the month, there is a drinks party at work and a fancy dress mufti day. On top of this, I was frequently invited out on work drinks as well as other sporting trips, such as the
Go to uni here, so am used to the costs!
Go to uni here, so my only experience of going out was on the weekend to uni clubs, the local pub was good fun though on work trips there.
Yes, whether it was going to drinks parties, going to a trainee boat party or playing sports for the firm.
