    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I've loved it! The internship has been very challenging and has thrown me into many new experiences - but I am very happy that I had this opportunity.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Very. I received plenty of feedback from my colleagues and throughout I was reminded of the importance of my work.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had weekly one-to-ones with my line manager and my personal mentor, so I was offered a lot of support throughout. I always felt like there was someone I could talk to when the workload got a bit much or if I had any issues with tasks.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I worked in a very fast-paced team, so in comparison to the rest of the resourcing team I might not have been that busy on a daily basis. To me though - I was very busy and always had multiple projects to work on. I'd say this was probably the challenge I enjoyed most as it meant I was learning a wide range of skills within a short period.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given quite a lot of responsibility as I was responsible for our promotion to universities, the booking of events, was able to have involvement in executive meetings, and I was solely responsible for any inbox enquiries.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I was completing my MSc dissertation alongside this internship, and I felt like the internship helped with this through the skills I've developed in time management, meeting deadlines, and my professional communication.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Fun but productive! There's always an exciting atmosphere in the office in the charity sector as everyone is inspired by the same cause and there are often fundraising events going on. Because of this shared passion for the cause, everyone is very hard-working! As the office is open plan, it's a great atmosphere for discussing ideas or asking for help if needed.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship coordinator organised the internship very well, and I felt there was structured support at the appropriate times throughout.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • This was relatively limited due to budget limitations, but workshops were available to develop skills such as assertiveness, and time management. However I felt that most of my training and development came from my communication with my mentor, and by taking up opportunities to work with different teams and learn from one another.

    2/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 1/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would love to work for this organisation in the future when a vacancy is available.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yeah because the interns all started at the same time, there was a strong social group with regular social events. This meant that there was always another intern to assist with any issues and you could learn from alternative team perspectives.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Obviously in London - quite high! In Angel specifically though, socialising and shopping was not too expensive.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There are plenty of great bars and pubs in Angel, and loads of gorgeous food places!

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were quite a lot of activities available, although I don't think I was fully aware of all that was available, and I never had time to get involved unfortunately. Yoga on the rooftop sounded perfect though!
