    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Thoroughly enjoyable work - variety of different projects and able to see a lot of other work going on.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Colleagues were very helpful, friendly and felt very valued - the work which I was doing was presented to some very senior members of the company and so this added to the feeling of being valued by the colleagues.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Manager was superb - would always check-in just to make sure there were no problems and always open to questions (even the seemingly stupid ones!)

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There was a very good level of work to be done - never a dull moment and because there were several projects that you could be doing there was always another thing to be doing.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A lot of responsibility several parts of the internship were updating systems that are to be used by the entire company.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The usual time management etc. But also due to the end of placement review they highlighted areas that I can improve and will be working on these in the coming year.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very friendly - could have a laugh with the colleagues

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very good - first couple of days sat down with the rest of the team and the other interns working in the same team who were on a different site to explain where we fitted in etc. Also organised so that there was a mix of group projects and individual projects that was very useful.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Learnt a couple of new pieces of software which will serve me well in the future. As mentioned earlier they highlighted areas of improvement for me.

    5/5

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing - there is a good 'pipeline' from internship to graduate job which they explain to you while you are htere.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The Apprentice Association (AA) set up some social things to get to know each other at the start which was very good. There were a couple of other interns in my office and we ended up doing our own social things. Also a social with our manager and some of the graduate students which was also very nice.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived locally and commuted in at the cost of about a fiver a day so not bad at all. Socialising in Bristol was same price as most other areas for a pint!

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Lots of good pubs that we went to with some of the other interns

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, there was a weekly newsletter with updates on activities for employees to get involved with - something for everyone. Weekly football practice, go-karting, cider festival, rugby, hockey etc. if you wanted to do something then it was easy enough to get people involved.

    5/5
