The Role
Much better than I thought it would ever be
The staff made the project enjoyable even in the toughest of days. We spent a lot of time together because many were given flats in the area.
I came into the project not knowing anything about Financial Services or Insurance or the System we were implementing, but the managers there were fantastic and found successively harder work as I progressed.
Extremely busy all the time yet there was a good work-life balance for getting food together so there was always rest and relaxation times.
I was involved in a difficult project with a lack of staff so I was given more responsibility than I thought I would have as an intern. Yet with great management staff and very helpful colleagues, I was able to make a positive contribution.
It changed my life because you can't simulate the real world and you can't simulate the pressure scenarios that you will have to face until you are actually there at 10 pm trying to make a deadline for 8 am in the morning. It also challenged my views of how hard I had been working at school.
The Company
Great comradery even when it got difficult.
There had been interns there before and interns joining after so it felt smooth.
The managers and the team spent a lot of time with me and gave me often important roles that they would normally be doing in order to let me experience the different aspects of the business. I was very happy.
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
Healthcare/Dental
Was offered a job when I finish university.
The Culture
Yes there was good cohesion with other placement students provided your project was in london. People who were working in Scotland found it hard to meet up with other people, but other than that, it was good circa 2 times a month.
Food and travel and accommodation was paid for, and the allowances are generous.
I think we went out once in 9 months and that was at the end.
We had many bonding sessions out of work, we had Badminton, Football, Laser Quest, Bowling, Cinema etc.
