The Role
I really enjoyed my internship - all the jobs I got given were proper ones where the work I did was used and valued, everyone was very welcoming and always happy to take the time to help my understanding.
Very, everyone I sat near was extremely friendly and helpful and managers were always chatty and happy to give their jobs to me rather than a permanent colleague.
I was given a very appropriate level of support, I was always included in discussions about tasks I had been involved in, but not walked through absolutely everything which allowed me to do lots of my work independently.
Overall I had a very appropriate workload, achievable in a 9-5 week but not too little to get on with. It did vary from week to week so occasionally I had to stay late and shorten my lunch break etc but other weeks I would be working at a much more relaxed pace.
A lot tasks I was given were part of a team wide project which meant my work was being reviewed by heads of departments. Quite often I was taking the lead on the project I was working on which was great.
The workplace and business related skills I learnt will be really useful in any job. If I were to go in to the same area of the business that I had my internship in I think I would have a much easier start than someone without my experience as I now have a very good overview of how the area works, the different processes etc.
The Company
The atmosphere was great, everyone was really friendly and chatty. There were plenty of lunches, drinks, events etc.
Everything was really well organised, I had inductions from all of the sub teams in our department within my first week. People seemed to be ready for my arrival and there were jobs ready for me to do.
I was only there for 10 weeks so there weren't many opportunities for training. There were some webinars run over the course of my internship which were informative on the whole.
Very, I hope to be referred on to the graduate scheme and have been told I am on track to get accepted.
The Culture
Yes, I had lunch with colleagues almost every day and there were plenty of after work drinks etc.
Central London so quite expensive, I am from London though so wasn't surprised!
I lived at home during my internship so didn't go out too much, all the bars we went to after work were pretty nice.
I went go karting and played football a few times with colleagues which was good fun.
