    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my time on placement at Golfbreaks.com. I consistently felt like my role was necessary within the company, made a lot of good friends and gained some very important skills for my future career.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • As Golfbreaks.com employs a lot of placement students every year, they are an integral part of the company. I felt as appreciated as a full time member of staff and became close friends with not only the members of my own team, but people from other teams and the sister companies.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given a lot of support throughout my placement. The customer service team was exceptionally friendly and was always there to help if necessary. If I ever had a problem that my team members could not help me with, I could see my team leader or manager and they would always make time to help.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Golfbreaks.com is a fairly seasonal company so some months were busier than others (December was very quiet but March and September were very busy!). Saying this, there was always work to be completed and if the department was very quiet we were given opportunities in different departments.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Throughout my placement I was given the same responsibility as the full time staff. Each morning I came into a new workflow which was to be completed throughout the day, above this I had to manage my own emails and any other responsibilities that I may have (such as running incentives).

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I believe the main skill I developed over my time at Golfbreaks, com was my confidence which will help me in not only my future study and career but in general. I also developed my communication and team working skills to a high level.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office was always great, even during busy periods. Golfbreaks.com is a very young company and there is always an element of fun in the office. Even at the very start of my placement I felt welcome to speak to all members of staff, even the managers and directors.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • In the first two weeks of the placement we took part in an intensive training program to learn the skills we needed for the job which was very well organised. After we began the full time role there was not as much of a placement program and we were treated mainly as full time employees.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • In the first two weeks there was a very intense training program to learn the skills for the job which was followed up every few months. In addition to this, in the final six months of the placement, I was given monthly one to ones which helped me create a Personal Development Plan.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I believe there is some future employment prospects within Golfbreaks.com, especially if they feel that you have done well on your placement year. This is evident in the fact that many previous placement students from the last 15 years are still working within the company. The only issue that I can see with future employment would be that the company is that it is not a huge company at the moment so there may be limited manager roles available.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a great social atmosphere throughout the company both inside and outside of work. Everybody was very friendly and there were always events taking place planned through the company such as the summer social, GONGs and Fam trips (where we were able to visit the venues we dealt with). Also, there were many events such as a five aside football tournaments, parties and after work drinks that were organised by placement students as well as full time staff.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Windsor is very expensive and it was difficult to manage money at times, especially when there were a lot of social events going on.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There are quite a lot of bars and pubs in the Windsor area but not that many nightclubs. It was not amazing nightlife but the people who were there made it better! It is also easy to get to other areas such as Maidenhead for a different night out.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were a lot of opportunities outside of work such as socials, after work drinks, trips away and different sports.

    4/5
