The Role
Very enjoyable experience, both in terms of the work and the people.
Made to feel very welcome by everyone at the office and on the jobs I worked on.
Someone always there when needed - if anything I didn't ask enough questions so don't make the same mistake - they don't mind being bothered if you don't understand the work you're doing.
Very busy at first when booked on clients, but slowed down somewhat in last couple of weeks - this was indicative of whole office though with it being one of the quieter periods of the year. But there would always work to be done provided you went and asked for it!
Treated as a Level 1 when working at clients so given responsibility for preparing whole sections of the audit.
Improved time management when on client bookings, management of downtime when not, and sense of direction - beware, audit generally involves lots of driving (or other form of transport) to and from client offices!
The Company
Made to feel very welcome despite having barely been in the office for first 4 weeks of the internship, and got to interact with all levels of assurance staff from associate to partner.
Very well organised, from application stage through the internship right up to the final event in London. There were a couple of confusing moments as far as client bookings for the final week but these were minor issues that were quickly cleared up.
Wouldn't like to think just how much was spent on each individual intern over the 6 weeks to say not everyone gets an offer at the end of it.
Flexi Time
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Offered the job and got my office switched after further discussion with the firm.
The Culture
Made some good friends both at the induction and during the internship.
Not applicable as I lived at home and commuted.
Couldn't really comment on nightlife since only went out for a couple of meals (one with my EY buddy and one with the other interns), but they were very enjoyable all the same!
Corporate social responsibility day on induction week very fun, not so many opportunities once internship started but what was on the interns were generally invited to.
