The Role
I really enjoyed my time at GSK, there was alot of social activities and a great IPUnite community within GSK to encourage networking within the IP students.
The people were very friendly and treat students with the same respect as any other member of staff
Members of my team tried to help me with all the tasks i had but at the same time encouraged me to try and become more independent. If i struggled with anything there was always someone in the team to help me or find someone outside of the team to give me the help i needed.
I think that depends on the team you work with. My team was working on multiple projects during my internship and I played a part in all the different projects which is why I was always busy, however the team take into account how much you can manage and work with you to balance your workload.
I was given the opportunity to manage a project near the end of my placement. This project gave me exposure to many opportunities and allowed me to develop my project management skills.
I requested training during my internship which i was required to justify and explain how it would add value to the team and help me develop my skills. if you can justify why you need the training then it helps with getting approval.
The Company
Relaxed most of the time
I thought it was well organised, there was always something for me to do - I took part in many projects and was given the opportunity to manage a few projects too.
I received a few training's during my time - some on the job and others required funding from GSK which they did fund.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Subsidised Canteen
Financial Bonus
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
I would happily return to GSK in the future.
