The Role
A large number of placement students every year really gives the year a great social vibe. GSK really put full responsibility on you so you feel you're part of the organisation that they could not work without.
Again you really do feel a valued employee. Colleagues rely on the work you do for them and you are not treated as a student. On the other hand you are given full support for your development.
As above. A lot of support and training, GSK really work towards your development so the year is really beneficial for you.
I spend one half of the year very busy carrying out day to day tasks. The second half of the year I was quieter but this enabled me to work on specific projects for the business which again increases the feeling of value I had.
As above all the responsibility is on you. Colleagues rely on the work you are doing to carry out their jobs.
Definitely built upon and learnt a whole load of new skills that really support the theory of the degree.
The Company
Plenty of fun due to the high level of other placement students around.
Seamless as you would expect for a blue chip company of this size taking on 100+ students per year.
As aforementioned I was given the option to undertake plenty of training both in house and externally at large cost to the business.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events

The Culture
As discussed number of students on placement plus everyone living in student housing locally made a good social scene.
London very expensive for living and socialising
As above. London nights but at London prices.
Placement students ran nights out.
